Temperature Range of Metal Wound Gaskets
Temperature Range of Metal Wound Gaskets
The applicable temperature range of metal wound gaskets is mainly determined by the inner filler material, with the metal strip material playing only a secondary role. Details are as follows:
1. By Filler Material (Core Factor)
Flexible graphite filled (most commonly used)
Long-term: -200℃ ~ 650℃
Short-term peak: ≤ 800℃
Ceramic fiber filled
Long-term: -200℃ ~ 1000℃
Short-term peak: ≤ 1200℃
PTFE filled
Long-term: -200℃ ~ 260℃ (not high temperature resistant)
2. By Metal Strip Material (Secondary Factor)
304/316 stainless steel: Upper limit about 800℃
Carbon steel: Upper limit about 550℃
High-temperature alloy (Inconel/Hastelloy): Upper limit 1000℃+
3. Selection Recommendations for Pyrolysis Furnaces
Conventional pyrolysis furnaces (600–800℃): 304 stainless steel + graphite filled
Ultra-high temperature working conditions (>800℃): Ceramic fiber filled + high-temperature alloy strip
