How to Properly Store Tire Oil to Extend Its Service Life

To extend the storage life of tire oil, the core is to take targeted measures against its characteristics of high volatility, easy oxidation, susceptibility to impurities and water, and strong temperature sensitivity from four aspects: sealing and oxygen isolation, stable temperature and humidity control, anti-pollution and anti-seepage, and refined daily management to block the causes of deterioration. The specific simplified requirements are as follows:

Sealing and Oxygen Isolation (Core for Life Extension)

Use special carbon steel storage tanks with sealing devices, inspect seals regularly to prevent air leakage; adopt nitrogen-filled protection for large-scale storage (isolates oxygen and extends the service life to 8~10 months); use thickened sealed containers for sub-packaging, reduce opening times and avoid open storage.

Stable Temperature and Humidity Control

Maintain the temperature stably at 20℃~40℃, keep the tank insulated in winter and cooled in summer, strictly prohibit temperatures below 5℃ or above 50℃ and avoid excessive temperature differences; control the relative humidity of the tank farm at ≤85%, take rain and moisture proof measures in rainy seasons, and install dryers at tank breathers to prevent water ingress and equipment corrosion.

Anti-pollution and Anti-seepage

Treat the tank farm ground with anti-seepage measures, keep it away from pollution sources and install dust covers on tank tops; conduct fully sealed loading and unloading operations, install filters on pipelines to prevent impurities and water from mixing in; use special tanks and containers for tire oil only, and strictly prohibit mixed storage and filling with other oils and chemicals.

Refined Daily Management

Establish an inspection system, regularly check the operation status of seals, temperature and humidity devices and equipment, and conduct monthly sensory tests on the oil; stir the oil slightly on a regular basis to prevent stratification and precipitation; follow the first-in first-out principle, with conventional sealed storage not exceeding 6 months and nitrogen-filled storage not exceeding 8~10 months to reduce stockpiling.

Supporting Protection

Keep the tank farm well-ventilated and ensure the normal operation of oil and gas recovery devices to reduce the volatilization of light components; keep oil absorbent mats, filters and other supplies on hand for timely handling of slight leakage and water ingress; implement anti-static and open fire prevention measures in the tank farm to avoid secondary pollution affecting the oil.
