What Raw Materials Can Be Used for Pyrolysis Oil Refining?
The core raw materials for pyrolysis oil refining are various polymer organic solid wastes. These materials contain crackable hydrocarbon components, which can be decomposed into oil gas, carbon black and other products under oxygen-free heating conditions. Specifically, they can be divided into the following categories:
Rubber Category
Mainly including waste tires and waste rubber products (such as waste conveyor belts, rubber seals, waste rubber pipes). In addition to fuel oil and carbon black, steel wire can also be recovered after the pyrolysis of such raw materials.
Plastic Category
Covering thermoplastic waste plastics such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS), like waste plastic films, plastic bottles, plastic lunch boxes and foam plastics. It should be noted that chlorine-containing plastics (such as PVC) are generally not recommended as raw materials, because they will produce toxic hydrogen chloride gas during pyrolysis, which imposes extremely high requirements on equipment and environmental protection treatment.
Oil Sludge and Oil Residue Category
Including oil refinery sludge generated in industrial production, oilfield oily sludge, waste oil residue from mechanical processing, refining residue of kitchen waste oil, etc. Such raw materials have high oil content and relatively considerable oil yield through pyrolysis.
Other Organic Waste Materials
Including waste acrylic (organic glass), waste rubber shoe materials, waste plastic product scraps, etc. As long as they are polymer organic materials without a large amount of impurities (such as sediment and foreign matters other than metals), they can be used as raw materials for pyrolysis oil refining.
It should be reminded that the purity and impurity content of raw materials will directly affect pyrolysis efficiency and product quality. The pretreatment process (crushing, screening, drying) can effectively improve the utilization rate of raw materials.
