Core Procedure Checklist for Batch Distillation Experiment

I. Preparation Phase

Equipment Inspection

Confirm the tightness of the skid-mounted unit, ensuring no leaks in the distillation kettle, condenser, pipelines, and valves.

Verify that the heating system, cooling circulation system, and vacuum system (if applicable) are in normal operating condition.

Material Preparation

Prepare the feedstock to be distilled (e.g., waste engine oil, mixed solvents) according to experimental requirements, and complete pre-treatment such as filtration to remove impurities.

Inject the feedstock into the distillation kettle, ensuring the liquid level is within the safe operating range.

Parameter Setting

Set process parameters such as heating power, distillation temperature, and vacuum level (for vacuum distillation) based on the properties of the feedstock.

II. Experimental Operation Phase

Start Preheating

Turn on the heating system to slowly preheat the distillation kettle, and simultaneously activate the cooling circulation system.

If a preheating device is included, start it synchronously to preheat the feedstock using waste heat from the system.

Formal Distillation

When the temperature inside the kettle reaches the boiling point of the feedstock, collect the distillate and switch receiving containers according to boiling point intervals.

Monitor the temperature, pressure inside the kettle, and distillate flow rate in real time, and record key data.

Process Regulation

Adjust the heating power according to changes in distillate fractions to prevent bumping or overheating.

If operating under vacuum, maintain a stable system vacuum level.

III. Experimental Shutdown Phase

Stop Heating

When the distillate flow rate drops significantly or the experimental termination condition is met, turn off the heating system.

System Cooling

Keep the cooling circulation system running until the temperature inside the kettle drops to a safe range (typically <60°C).

For vacuum distillation, slowly restore atmospheric pressure before stopping the vacuum system.

Material Handling

Collect and label each distillate product, and properly dispose of the kettle bottom residue.

Clean the equipment, close all valves and power supplies, and complete the filing of experimental records.
